NFL Odds: Los Angeles Rams vs. Carolina Panthers Betting Preview

The Los Angeles Rams and Carolina Panthers will look to right the ship with a much-needed win in their NFL Week 6 matchup. Five games into the 2022-23 season, the Panthers may as well tank and go for the No. 1 selection in the draft next year, starting the season with a dismal 1-4 record.

On the other hand, the Rams can still save their season if they start racking up some wins. The NFC West is still up for grabs, with the 49ers (3-2) retaining a slim lead over the rest of the division (2-3).

The Rams are overwhelming favorites to beat the Panthers in Week 6 at home, mainly due to the absence of Panthers starting quarterback Baker Mayfield who is likely to miss the next 2-6 weeks

If you don’t know how to bet on NFL games, these cryptic-looking figures indicate that the Rams are 10.5-point favorites over the Panthers.

After playing three of the league’s most robust defenses, the Rams are dead last in yards per play, averaging only 4.2 yards every snap.

The Rams’ Week 6 game against the Panthers will be a litmus test for the actual status of their offense this season.

Not only has the Rams’ offense failed to reproduce its Super Bowl champion form, but its defense, captained by superstar Aaron Donald, has also underperformed this season.

For perspective, the Rams’ defense allows opponents 5.4 yards per play, while the Panthers allow 5.3 yards.

All of this makes me believe that the Panthers’ 10.5-point lead is excessive and overly generous, even with Baker Mayfield ruled out.

Because the Rams now have more raw skill on their roster than the Panthers, I feel the Rams should win this game, especially with home-field advantage. However, I don’t think it’ll be as easy as the bookies suggest.

Tune in on Sunday, October 16th at 1:05 PM PST to see whether the Rams can get their record back to .500 when they face the Caroline Panthers at SoFi Stadium.
