NBA Season To Resume Without Kevin Durant

The NBA has taken the next step towards normality and decides to continue the season. The best basketball league in the world is set to resume the season that was interrupted by the pandemic with 22 teams at Disney World in Orlando Florida. This was announced by NBA officials on Thursday.

Over the last 5 months, all events were canceled due to the Covid-19 crisis and fans of online gambling and sports betting and waited eagerly to see the NBA season to continue in order to place their bets again. According to information from ESPN, 29 of the 30 teams voted for the format with only the Portland Trail Blazers voicing disagreement. This decision ends the regular season prematurely for eight teams.

According to ESPN, the players should give their consent on Friday.

Included Teams

The 22 teams are composed as follows: 16 teams that were on the playoff places in the Eastern and Western Conference before the break on March 11th. There are also six clubs that have a maximum of six fewer wins than the eighth place in their conference.

Thus, the New Orleans Pelicans, the Phoenix Suns, the Portland Trail Blazers, the Sacramento Kings, and the San Antonio Spurs come from the west, from the east only the Washington Wizards around the German internationals Moritz Wagner and Isaac Bonga.

The 2020 Draft Lottery and 2020 NBA Draft

Each of the 22 teams will now play eight regular-season games to play the playoff seed list. After the end of the regular season, the 16 best teams start in the playoffs.

From the first round to the finals, all playoff series will be played in the traditional best-of-seven mode. The season should be completed by October 12 at the latest.

According to The Athletic, teams are scheduled to begin training camps on June 30 and travel to Orlando on July 7. December 1 was also set as a preliminary date for the start of the coming season. The NBA Draft Lottery is scheduled for August 25, the NBA Draft has been scheduled for October 15.

It has now also been clarified that teams like the Washington Wizards can no longer improve their chances for the draft lottery. Should the Wizards miss the playoffs, the lottery would count towards March 11th.

The professionals at the NBA have given their approval to the format for the continuation of the season.  This was announced by the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) after a meeting on Friday at which the board and player representatives voted on the league’s plan.

Accordingly, the season can be continued with 22 teams as hoped, from July 31, the Walt Disney grounds in Orlando will be played.

The NBA is preparing for its comeback, but one of its biggest stars will be missing. Kevin Durant is not available to the Nets when restarting.
