Mookie Betts Led Dodgers In Escape Room At Mall Of America

After dropping the rubber match of a three-game series with the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field, the Los Angeles Dodgers traveled to Target Field for a brief two-game Interleague set against the Minnesota Twins.

It marked L.A.’s first visit to the Twins’ home ballpark since 2014. Prior to the series opener, a dozen Dodgers players spent Monday’s off day at Mall of America.

Those who made the trip to the largest shopping mall in North America conquered an escape room with plenty of time to spare thanks to Mookie Betts, per David Vassegh of AM 570 L.A. Sports:

A good size group of #Dodgers players had some impromptu team bonding at Mall of America yesterday. 12 players went inside of an “Escape Room”. They found their way out with 1 hour and 10 minutes to spare.

“The Escape Game” at Mall of America is an immersive adventure in which teams must crack codes, uncover clues, solve puzzles and complete a mission within a certain amount of time.

After escaping the room in record time, the Dodgers resumed their road trip with a 7-2 win over the Twins, and went on to complete a sweep on Wednesday.

Betts among Dodgers off to slow start

Betts is among the Dodgers who have gotten off to a slow start this season, collecting only three hits in his first 18 at-bats (.167 batting average). However, Betts did swing the bat well in the series finale at Target Field, going 2-for-5 with a double.

The five-time All-Star was limited to 122 games last season while playing through pain and hit .264/.367/.487 with 23 home runs, a 131 wRC+ and 3.9 WAR.

Now healthy again, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts expects Betts to bounce back and once again be in the conversation for an MVP Award this season.
