While Gerrit Cole, Anthony Rendon and Stephen Strasburg undeniably have been at the center of free agency this winter, by extension so too has mega agent Scott Boras. He of course represents each of the three marquee players, in addition to Hyun-Jin Ryu, among others.
The Los Angeles Dodgers of course have ties to Ryu, and they have been linked to Cole and Rendon. The Dodgers additionally were said to have met with Strasburg, but he’s since come off the market after agreeing to a record-setting contract with the Washington Nationals.
That seemingly raised the bar for Cole, who is expected to receive his own long-term deal that should break Strasburg’s records and potentially reach $300 million in total value. Furthermore, the Nationals re-signing Strasburg was thought to eliminate them from the Rendon sweepstakes.
As Cole and Rendon continue to evaluate their options and contract offers, the Dodgers are due to again speak with Boras at the Winter Meetings, according to Jorge Castillo of the L.A. Times:
The Dodgers, still in on Gerrit Cole and Anthony Rendon, have met with Scott Boras, their agent, at the winter meetings and are scheduled to meet with him again today, per source. The Angels also have a meeting scheduled today.

Based on reports it can be presumed the Dodgers and Boras will discuss Cole, Rendon and Ryu. Though to this point there have conflicting reports regarding L.A.’s interest in Cole and their willingness to make the substantial commitment.
Most believe the L.A. Angels and New York Yankees to be leading the race for the right-hander, but Boras vaguely told reporters on Tuesday that two mystery teams had entered negotiations.
Meanwhile, although the Dodgers were said to be one of the favorites for Cole, the Nationals may have re-entered the picture and the Angels are also among the clubs with reported interest in the All-Star third baseman.
Ryu thus far has been the subject of interest from the Dodgers, Minnesota Twins and Toronto Blue Jays. In the event the Dodgers sign Cole, the Angels would be considered a possibility for Ryu as their fallback option.
