The Los Angeles Dodgers traded prospect Damon Keith to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for cash considerations, per Adam McCalvy of MLB.com.
Keith had been part of the Dodgers organization since they selected him out of Cal Baptist University in the 18th round of the 2021 MLB Draft. His professional debut came shortly after with the Arizona Complex League Dodgers.
Keith then began the 2022 season with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and was named California League Player of the Month for April.
A trade! Brewers are acquiring Minor League OF Damon Keith from the Dodgers for cash. He’ll most likely join Double-A Biloxi.

The Dodgers promoted Keith to High-A Great Lakes in August 2022, and he immediately earned Midwest League Player of the Week honors. Keith did cool off for the remainder of the season and wound up hitting just .204/.339/.408 with four doubles, five home runs and 14 RBI in 31 games.
Keith spent all of 2023 with Great Lakes and the following year was with Double-A Tulsa. The right-handed hitting outfielder was back with the Drillers for the entire 2025 season as well. Over parts of two years at the Double-A level, the 25-year-old has hit .241/.316/.438 with 27 doubles, 27 home runs and 82 RBI over 164 games.
Why did Dodgers trade Damon Keith?
Outfielders are a current strength of the Dodgers farm system, which made Keith somewhat expendable. He’s blocked on the organizational depth chart by the likes of Josue De Paula, Zyhir Hope, James Tibbs III, Eduardo Quintero, Mike Sirota and Charles Davalan, among others. Ryan Ward theoretically is also part of that as well considering he is on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster.
It’s presumed the Dodgers intended to have Keith begin the 2026 Minor League season with the Drillers had he not been traded. It’s also where De Paula, Hope and Sirota are likely to be playing at the outset of this year.
Top Brewers prospects lean heavily toward pitchers and infielders. Whereas Keith’s progression was blocked in some regard with the Dodgers, getting traded to the Brewers should offer him a larger opportunity.
The deal marks a second time the Dodgers and Brewers have completed a trade in the past year, as Steward Berroa was dealt last July.
