After a tough losing streak, Luka Doncic has helped stabilize the Los Angeles Lakers the past couple of games.

The Lakers earned convincing wins over the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings, and while both victories aren’t going to say much it was still a step in the positive direction.

Doncic hasn’t had to do too much heavy lifting against lower-level competition, but he still finds a way to make an imprint on the game. For example, Doncic helped Los Angeles get out of its third quarter rut against the Sacramento Kings en route to the win.

Following the win against the Kings, head coach JJ Redick discussed Doncic’s game and the certain flare and dramatics he has in key moments.

“Yeah, Coach K (Mike Krzyzewski) used to always use the word ‘daring.’ There’s a daring to Luka’s game,” Redick said. “It’s what makes one of the many reasons that makes him such a special player. But he had a stretch there in the third quarter, we really struggled, we were struggling to get cohesive offense, a lot of holding the basketball. I called time out. And I thought that stretch for him, he just made a bunch of amazing plays. We got our pace back and you know, he split the blitz and scores at the rim. He has the wrap-around pass, the one pass he threw to Rui [Hachimura], which Rui airballed, just the anticipation.

“Like not every team switches that, they usually track their five and they switch with the guy coming off the chin screen and he read that before it even happened and Rui gets a wide open three. So, he just, again, processing speed was spectacular in that stretch.”

Like every great superstar, Doncic is unafraid to step up when the moment calls for it and he did so against both Golden State and Sacramento. In the two contests, the Lakers underwent a lull that allowed their opponents to climb back into the game before Doncic responded to keep them at bay.

Doncic’s offensive heroics are a sight to see, though the team needs to be better on both ends to prevent any future lapses.
