Still unable to interact with Los Angeles Dodgers fans as the country continues to navigate the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Justin and Kourtney Turner have organized a “Turner Trot” virtual 5K to support the Justin Turner Foundation and its beneficiaries.
“Unfortunately, like many others this past year, we’ve had to postpone or cancel our major events for the foundation due to the pandemic,” Kourtney told DodgerBlue.com. “Justin and I have thrown around the idea of a 5K for awhile now, and thought it would be a perfect solution to host a ‘Turner Trot 5K’ virtually this year.
“This allows participants to be active, safely join their family and friends outdoors, and still raise money for a great cause. Also, we know there are Dodger fans are all over the country, so this allows people to participate and be apart of this community from a far.”
Registration for the “Turner Trot” is now open, though options for the All-Star ($50) and MVP ($75) tiers sold out. Still available is a Major Leaguer registration ($45) and a variety of sponsorship opportunities are also available.
The All-Star tier came with a Justin Turner Foundation JUNK headband and Adidas waist pack. However, both items were limited to the first 250 registrants. The first 200 registrants at the MVP tier will receive an exclusive Baseballism 5K reflective snapback hat and Adidas sack pack.
All race day swag bags include a “Turner Trot” t-shirt and 5K finisher medal. Race day bags will be available for local pickup at the L.A. Dream Center on Thursday, May 13, or they can be shipped. Registrants have the option of covering the nominal shipping cost to offset the price for the foundation.
“We are grateful for the countless fans that have reached asking how they can support our foundation during this unprecedented time,” Justin said. “We briefly mentioned the 5K on our podcast and have already had a great response, which shows the generosity and selflessness of Dodger fans’ hearts.
“We will get back to our annual events when the time is right, but for now, we will pivot in order to keep serving those in need. We cannot wait to see everyone’s photos and videos of their ‘Turner Trot’ and look forward to following along on everyone’s fundraising efforts.
“The causes we support need us now more than ever, and we look forward to seeing the impact this event can have on our community.”
