What once looked like a potential postseason preview has lost some of its shine, but the series opener between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves nevertheless is going to be played in front of a national audience.
It’s one of two games during the wraparound series at Truist Park selected for a wide broadcast. The series finale is being carried by ESPN for “Sunday Night Baseball.”
Friday’s matchup was selected for an exclusive stream on Apple TV+, marking the Dodgers’ fifth appearance on the platform this season.
Wayne Randazzo and Dontrelle Willis are going to be on the call for the “Friday Night Baseball” game and be accompanied by reporter Heidi Watney.
SportsNet LA is not going to have a broadcast of Friday’s game between the Dodgers and Braves, per usual arrangement with Apple TV+ streams.
MLB did test allowing regional sports networks to televise a game alongside Apple TV when the Dodgers faced the Yankees, which was also carried by SportsNet LA and the YES Network.
“Friday Night Baseball” streams incorporate drone cameras for aerial stadium shots, as well as player microphones and field-level mics to further immerse fans in the gameplay and overall atmosphere.
MLB games streaming on Apple TV+ began at the start of the 2022 season.
