How The Dodgers Are Replacing Julio Urías WBC Bobblehead Giveaway At Dodger Stadium

In the wake of Julio Urías being arrested and charged on suspicion of felony domestic violence, the Los Angeles Dodgers removed his World Baseball Classic bobblehead from their 2023 promotional schedule and giveaways calendar.

The bobblehead was originally going to be distributed to the first 30,000 fans in attendance for the Dodgers’ game against the San Francisco Giants on September 21.

The team instead is giving away select premium bobbleheads in what is now being promoted as “Dodgers Collectors Vault Giveaway” night at Dodger Stadium. The group includes the Freddie Freeman, Tony Gonsolin, J.D. Martinez and Chris Taylor bobbleheads that were previously distributed this season, and a Tommy Lasorda bobblehead from 2019.

The Dodgers haven’t said if fans will be able to choose a specific bobblehead or if a random one will be given to them at point of entry.

A Urías bobblehead had already been given out in April, but this month’s version was due to feature the left-hander wearing a Team Mexico uniform. Urías participated in the WBC this year for the first time in his career, which he considered a significant honor.

Dodgers ‘shocked & disappointed’ by Julio Urías arrest

Urías was arrested late Sunday night on suspicion of felony domestic violence. The incident is believed to have occurred after a soccer match between the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) and Inter Miami at BMO Stadium, which drew national attention because of Lionel Messi.

Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman and manager Dave Roberts said the team was stunned by the development and expressed regret for everyone involved.

Urías was released Monday morning on a $50,000 bond and has a court date set for September 27, according to his booking records. He has since been placed on administrative leave as MLB continues its investigation.
