Ian Happ delivered a walk-off RBI single in the 10th inning as the Chicago Cubs rallied for an 11-10 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in a back-and-forth contest Tuesday night at Wrigley Field. The Cubs tied the game in the ninth with a dramatic solo home run by Miguel Amaya before sealing the victory in extra innings.

The game opened with the Dodgers listed as slight favorites by most oddsmakers, with moneyline odds around -120. The Cubs were priced at approximately +100, and the projected total of 8.5 runs was far surpassed in a contest that featured 21 total runs, seven home runs, and multiple lead changes.

Trailing 10-9 entering the bottom of the ninth and down to their final out, the Cubs received a jolt from Amaya, whose solo homer off Dodgers reliever Tanner Scott landed in the center field basket, igniting the crowd of 36,425. In the top of the 10th, Porter Hodge kept the game tied by working around the Dodgers’ automatic runner, improving his record to 2-0 on the season.

At the bottom of the inning, Vidal Bruján began on second base. On the first pitch he saw from Noah Davis, Happ lined a single into right field, allowing Bruján to score easily and giving the Cubs the win in dramatic fashion. Happ finished the night 4-for-6 and scored two runs.

The game was packed with offensive fireworks. The Dodgers built an early lead with a three-run home run by Tommy Edman in the first inning, his 15th career home run against Chicago. Edman finished with four RBIs. Los Angeles held a 10-7 lead after a five-run seventh inning, highlighted by Freddie Freeman’s two-run double that brought in Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts.

The Cubs stayed within striking distance throughout. Pete Crow-Armstrong, who continues to impress in center field, hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning off Dodgers starter Dustin May. Crow-Armstrong is now hitting .367 over his last 12 games, going 18-for-49 during that stretch. Kyle Tucker added a key two-run homer in the eighth inning off Alex Vesia to pull Chicago within one.

Defensively, the Dodgers had a highlight in the sixth inning when Andy Pages threw out Happ at the plate as he attempted to score on a Michael Busch fly ball. The call was originally ruled safe but overturned after Los Angeles successfully challenged it.

The Cubs’ win improved their record to 3-1 on their current eight-game homestand and evened the season series against the Dodgers at three games apiece. The teams will wrap up their seven-game season series Wednesday night.

Left-hander Matthew Boyd is scheduled to start for Chicago with a 1-2 record and a 2.01 ERA. The Dodgers have not announced a starter and are expected to employ a bullpen game. The Cubs will look to build on their offensive momentum while Los Angeles aims to bounce back from a rare high-scoring defeat.
