Former Los Angeles Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti was one of 14 honorees inducted into the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame.
Colletti, a native of Franklin Park, Illinois, is part of a 2021 class that includes former MLB players Curtis Granderson and A.J. Pierzynski, former NFL head coach Mike Shanahan, and WNBA star Candace Parker, among others.
Colletti began his executive career with the Chicago Cubs in 1982 and was part of their front office for over a decade before joining the San Francisco Giants in 1994, with whom he filled several roles.
After a successful 11-year run in the Bay Area, Colletti was named the 10th general manager in Dodgers franchise history on Nov. 16, 2005. Over his nine seasons with the organization, L.A. made five appearances in the postseason, including three trips to the National League Championship Series.
Heading to my hometown of Chicago for an honor of induction into Chicago Sports Hall of Fame. Yet another blessing to have been able to have the career I’ve had and to have just completed my 40th season in @mlb. I am humbled and grateful for so many. #dodgers #cubs #giants pic.twitter.com/foqahrYreF

Colletti most notably was responsible for drafting Clayton Kershaw, Corey Seager and Joc Pederson, signing Justin Turner, Yasiel Puig and Zack Greinke, and trading for the likes of Andre Ethier, Hanley Ramirez and Adrian Gonzalez.
No other NL general manager won more games than Colletti while at the helm of the Dodgers front office. He reached 500 victories as a GM in 2011, accomplishing the feat in 953 games, which was faster than every general manager in Dodgers franchise history besides Buzzie Bavasi (895 games).
Colletti has since transitioned to a senior advisor to Dodgers president Stan Kasten, while additionally contributing as an analyst for SportsNet LA as well. He also has served as a scout for the NHL’s San Jose Sharks since 2019.
Turner thanks Colletti for bringing him to Dodgers
Colletti was one of several Dodgers employees to receive a 2020 World Series ring earlier this year. After proudly displaying the honor on Twitter, Turner congratulated Colletti and thanked him for bringing him to the organization.
