Eastern Conference Injury Updates
Dana Wakiji: Detroit Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill yesterday on defenseman Mike Green and Trevor Daley: “Neither one will be ready for tomorrow. Neither one practiced today, which means we don’t practice Thursday because of our schedule, so I don’t anticipate them being ready to play on Friday.”
Ansar Khan: The Red Wings placed Trevor Daley on the IR retroactive to November 2nd.
Andrew Gross of Newsday: Islanders forward Leo Komarov has been dealing with a neck issue to go along with an illness that has kept him out for the past seven games.
“He had gotten hit,” Islanders president and general manager Lou Lamoriello said on Tuesday. “He had a neck situation. But we had the flu at that time going on. It was a combination of things. We kept him off just to make sure of everything. Right now, he’s feeling as good as he can feel.”
Komarov should be rejoining the team within the week according to Lamoriello.
Forward Matt Martin (lower-body) started skating yesterday. He’s out for another week to 10 days.
Defenseman Kris Letang was still being evaluated.
