Dodgers Video: Cody Bellinger Serves As Honorary Captain; Kenley Jansen & Tommy Lasorda Also Attend Lakers Game

2 Min Read

Like in recent years, multiple Los Angeles Dodgers players have used the offseason to attend Los Angeles Lakers games. Cody Bellinger, Kenley Jansen and former manager Tommy Lasorda were the latest to do so, as they were on hand Sunday when the Lakers hosted the Dallas Mavericks.

For Bellinger it marked a second time this season he was getting an in-person look at Anthony Davis, LeBron James and the Lakers, as he previously took in their road game against the Phoenix Suns. Meanwhile, Jansen was back at Staples Center for a second time in as many games.

When Jansen spoke with DodgerBlue.com on Friday, he said he was a fan of the Lakers’ City Edition jersey that was debuted that night, and argued the team should always wear yellow at home.

On Sunday, it was Bellinger who was in the spotlight as he was named an honorary captain.

While Bellinger and Jansen were seated together courtside, they took time prior to tip off to enjoy some laughs with Lasorda. The Hall of Fame manager also made his way over for a photo opportunity with the iconic Laker Girls.

Jansen has been a regular at Staples Center over the past few years and he’s also reveled in the annual Lakers Night at Dodger Stadium. This season he caught the first pitch from Anthony Davis and previously did so when Lonzo Ball took the mound.

As for matters on the field, Bellinger and Jansen are among the Dodgers who quickly resumed offseason workouts. The group includes Justin Turner and Gavin Lux, with the organization’s top prospect noting he grew bored after a short period of time off.
