The Los Angeles Dodgers made a second round of Spring Training roster cuts on Saturday in optioning Michael Grove and re-assigning Beau Burrows, Carson Fulmer and Ryan Pepiot to Minor League camp.
Burrows was among the several players to sign a Minor League contract with the Dodgers during the offseason. He was expected to start their Cactus League opener, but Clayton Kershaw wound up taking the mound instead.
Burrows did pitch in relief against the Milwaukee Brewers, throwing two perfect innings and collecting a pair of strikeouts in the process. That has been his only appearance thus far in Spring Training.
Fulmer joined the Dodgers organization after being selected during the Minor League phase of the 2021 Rule 5 Draft. The former top prospect has looked sharp over his two appearances, allowing just one hit across three innings pitched.
Grove was among the players the Dodgers added to their 40-man roster during the offseason in order to protect against potentially losing him in the Major League portion of the Rule 5 Draft that never was held because of the lockout.
Grove struck out two batters in one inning during his only Cactus League appearance to this point.
Pepiot struggled in a start against the Seattle Mariners but pitched well out of the bullpen in his second action of Spring Training. He held the San Diego Padres without a hit, and struck out three compared to one walk over two innings.
Each of the aforementioned players remain eligible to appear in Cactus League games as Minor League callups moving forward.

L.A. previously optioned Jacob Amaya, Eddys Leonard, James Outman and Jorbit Vivas to Minor League camp; and re-assigned Carson Taylor, Hunter Feduccia, Kody Hoese, Miguel Vargas, Michael Busch, Andy Pages, Ryan Noda, Bobby Wahl, Yefry Ramirez, Sam Gaviglio, Robbie Erlin and Jon Duplantier.
The Dodgers roster is now at 47 active players in big league camp, which includes 12 non-roster invitees. The total breakdown is 25 pitchers (four non-roster), four catchers (two), 10 infielders (three), five outfielders (three), and three outfielder/infielders.
