Dodgers Spring Training: David Price Not Concerned Over MLB’s Investigation Into Red Sox

3 Min Read

While the Houston Astros remain under a microscope because of Major League Baseball’s findings and their missteps since punishments were levied, the spotlight may soon shift to the Boston Red Sox as they are the subject of electronic sign stealing.

Boston has already felt the ramifications of the Astros’ misconduct as they parted with manager Alex Cora. He of course was bench coach for Houston during their 2017 championship season and named by MLB commissioner Rob Manfred as a key figure in the sign-stealing scheme.

Although the Red Sox face similar allegations, they have maintained there was not a similar method carried out under Cora in their World Series season. MLB initially hoped to conclude their investigation before the start of Spring Training but it remains ongoing.

With a ruling potentially being handed down in the near future, David Price expressed minimal concern over what the end result will be, via Pedro Moura of The Athletic:

David Price said he expects nothing will come out of the Red Sox sign-stealing investigation. He expects it’ll end soon. “I think in time people will be able to move forward,” he said of the reaction to the Astros’ scandal. “I think right now it’s still fresh in everyone’s mind.”

The Los Angeles Dodgers remain forever linked to the sign-stealing scandals in that they faced the Astros and Red Sox in respective trips to the World Series over back-to-back years. Moreover, Mookie Betts and Price are not the first players to join L.A. after the incidents.

The Dodgers acquired Tyler White at the trade deadline last season and just recently designated him for assignment. Granted, White played a small role for the Astros in 2017, and that was even more true with the Dodgers.

Conversely, Betts and Price should factor prominently in the 2020 season. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts already indicated he’s planning on having Betts start in right field and hit leadoff. Meanwhile, Price and the organization have voiced confidence the left-hander is healthy.
