Los Angeles Dodgers Spanish-language broadcaster Jaime Jarrín has been nominated for the 2020 Radio Hall of Fame Class. The category that Jarrín is nominated in is Active Network/Syndication (10 years or more) along with “The Breakfast Club,” Larry Elder and Kim Komando.

Candidates were selected by the Radio Hall of Fame’s Nominating Committee, following suggestions from radio professionals across the industry. The nominees in Jarrín’s category will be voted on by a panel comprised of 600 industry professionals who will receive confidential ballots from online voting service Votem.

Industry voting begins on July 13, although due to coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic concerns, the 2020 induction ceremony will be a live radio broadcast from multiple locations this October. The exact date and additional details will be announced along with the inductees later this summer.

Jarrín has been the Spanish-language broadcaster for the Dodgers since they moved to L.A. in 1958, and his current contract runs through the 2020 season, which is his 63rd with the organization.

Jarrín hasn’t given any indication this year will be his last in the broadcast booth, so there is a good chance he will be back in 2021 as well.

Other honors that Jarrín has received throughout his career with the Dodgers include being inducted into the Dodger Stadium Ring of Honor on Sept. 21, 2018.

Additionally, in 1998, Jarrín received the Ford C. Frick Award from the Baseball Hall of Fame, becoming the second Spanish-language broadcaster to do so, in 2002 he was inducted into the California Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame and in 2003 he was honored in the Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum.

While announcing in the same organization as the great Vin Scully, it speaks volumes that Jarrín was able to create his own legacy and is properly being recognized for it.
