Dodgers Selected For Apple TV+ ‘Friday Night Baseball’ Games Through First Half Of 2024 Season

MLB and Apple announced the return of “Friday Night Baseball,” a weekly doubleheader, for the 2024 season. The Los Angeles Dodgers were selected for two exclusive streams in the first half of the season, which for the streaming service is through Friday, June 28.

“We’re so excited to bring fans another great season of ‘Friday Night Baseball’ on Apple TV+,” Apple’s senior vice president of services Eddy Cue said in a statement.

“We have an outstanding lineup of games for Apple TV+ subscribers to watch across all their favorite devices, and an incredible group of talented broadcasters returning to bring fans closer to the games every week.”

The 2024 “Friday Night Baseball” schedules begins during opening weekend with the New York Yankees facing the Houston Astros, and Dodgers hosting the St. Louis Cardinals on March 29.

The Dodgers then appear on Apple TV+ again for their June 7 road game against the Yankees. Thus, their weekend visit to Yankee Stadium is going to consist of national broadcasts for all three games.

After the series opener streams on Apple TV+, the Dodgers and Yankees are scheduled to appear on Fox the following afternoon, and the finale was selected for ESPN’s “Sunday Night Baseball.”

SportsNet LA is going to televise the Dodgers’ June 7 game against the Yankees as well, which is a change from prior Apple TV+ streams that typically are exclusive.

“Friday Night Baseball” returns Wayne Randazzo (play-by-play), Dontrelle Willis (analyst), Heidi Watney (reporter), Alex Faust (play-by-play), Ryan Spilborghs (analyst) and Tricia Whitaker (reporter) to its broadcast booths. Former MLB umpires Ted Barrett, Brian Gorman and Dale Scott will additionally offer insight and explanation rules and calls each week.

Lauren Gardner again is going to host live pre- and postgame coverage for Apple TV+, along with Xavier Scruggs and Russell Dorsey. The preview show on March 29 for the matchup between the Cardinals and Dodgers is going to take place live from Dodger Stadium and feature exclusive interviews with players.

“Friday Night Baseball” is produced by MLB Network’s Emmy Award-winning production team in partnership with Apple’s live sports production team. Every stream will feature state-of-the-art cameras to present vivid live-action shots and offer immersive sound in 5.1 with Spatial Audio enabled.

“Friday Night Baseball” games are going to incorporate drone cameras for aerial stadium shots, as well as player mics and field-level mics to immerse fans in the gameplay and stadium atmosphere.

Fans in the U.S. and Canada will also have the option to listen to the audio of the home and away teams’ local radio broadcasts during “Friday Night Baseball” games.
