The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Justin Wrobleski and optioned Ben Casparius, the club announced prior to their Saturday matchup against the Colorado Rockies.

Wrobleski returns to the Dodgers for his fifth stint with the club. He is 1-2 with a 6.40 ERA in seven games (six starts) this season.

In his last outing on Sept. 7 against the Guardians, Wrobleski went two innings, giving up no runs with one hit allowed while walking three and striking out two in relief.

With Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, the 24-year-old has posted a 1-2 record with a 5.46 ERA in seven games.

He began the season with Double-A Tulsa, starting 13 games and producing a 5-2 record with a 3.06 ERA in 67.2 innings and 62 strikeouts against just 13 walks.

Casparius recorded the win in the series opener against the Rockies, tossing 4.1 innings in relief with seven strikeouts.

He is 2-0 with a 2.16 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 8.1 innings on the season. He holds a 4-3 record in 16 games (14 starts) and a 3.36 ERA in 67 innings with 72 strikeouts with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The 25-year-old was promoted from Double-A Tulsa on May 7 after going 2-1 with a 3.32 ERA in five games.

He has spent four minor league seasons in the Dodgers’ organization, going 14-17 in 79 games (57 starts) with 346 strikeouts against 150 walks.

Justin Wrobleski role for Dodgers

The Dodgers have not yet announced a starter for Sunday’s regular season finale against the Rockies, so Wrobleski should factor into that game, whether as a traditional starter or bulk reliever.

If the Dodgers go a different route on Sunday, he could be an option extra coverage for Saturday’s game following Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

With not much to play for, the Dodgers will likely be cautious with Yamamoto in his final regular season opting before they head to the postseason.

Although Wrobleski is highly unlikely to make the postseason roster, he could also stick around as a member of their taxi squad and work out with the team during their practices prior to the playoffs starting on Oct. 5.
