The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Bobby Miller from Triple-A Oklahoma City and placed Blake Treinen on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation prior to their regular-season finale against the San Francisco Giants.
Miller returns for his third big league stint this season, fresh off winning the 2026 Pacific Coast League (PCL) title and Triple-A National Championship Game with the Comets.
Miller last pitched on Sept. 24, when he threw a scoreless inning against the Las Vegas Aviators (Athletics’ affiliate) in Oklahoma City’s PCL title-clinching win. He went 2-0 with a 5.71 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 10.4 strikeouts per nine in nine games (one start) for the Comets this year.
With the Dodgers, Miller has a 1-0 record, 5.06 ERA, and 1.13 WHIP in 5.1 innings across two appearances.
The 27-year-old spent most of the 2026 season on the 60-day IL while dealing with a right shoulder injury. He was selected by the organization in the first round of the 2020 MLB Draft and looked like a potential future ace before injuries derailed his career.
Miller could get some work in against the Giants on Sunday as the Dodgers turn their focus to the National League Division Series. He does not appear to be an option for their postseason bullpen at this time.
Blake Treinen placed on injured list
Treinen injured his right shoulder while warming up on Saturday, only for Brock Stewart to enter in the seventh inning instead. The 38-year-old was then seen walking off the field with a Dodgers trainer.
“It’s unfortunate. He was warming up, and it was his shoulder,” manager Dave Roberts said after the 4-3 win over the San Francisco Giants. “I don’t know if it was a complete blow out, but really unfortunate.
“We’re going to get imaging — I don’t know if it’s today, tomorrow — but obviously it’s an IL. His season is over. Unfortunate for him.”
Treinen missed three months during the 2025 season because of right forearm soreness. He was later sidelined with elbow inflammation for just over two months this season before being activated Sept. 2.
Treinen’s 2026 season comes to an end after throwing just 29.2 innings over 35 appearances. He went 4-1 with a 3.64 ERA and 1.42 WHIP. Treinen’s inconsistencies this year resulted in him being moved into low-leverage situations.
He is set to become a free agent after the season, and given his struggles, injuries and age, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him retire.
