The Los Angeles Dodgers are once again ranked in the top-5 teams in MLB The Show, coming in at No. 4 in overall rating, with three of their premiere stars leading the way in the game’s Diamond Dynasty mode.

MLB The Show introduced the Diamond Club in 2020 to recognize the top tier of players available in the game’s Diamond Dynasty card-collecting mode which allows users to build a team of their favorite stars from around the league. Miami Marlins second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. was announced as the cover athlete for the standard edition of MLB The Show 23, with Hall of Fame shortstop Derek Jeter receiving his own ‘Captain Edition.’

The Dodgers have routinely been among teams with multiple diamond ratings in Diamond Dynasty and in this year’s version they’re represented by Mookie Betts, Clayton Kershaw and Freddie Freeman.

In the game’s regular mode, the Dodgers feature five players with diamond-tier overall ratings including Betts (96), Kershaw (91), Evan Phillips (90), Freeman (88) and Will Smith (88). As a team, they slot in at No. 3 overall in pitching and have the fifth-best contact rating.

Their fellow National League West counterpart San Diego Padres have five players clearing the 85-rating threshold with Manny Machado (95), Juan Soto (89), Joe Musgrove (86), Yu Darvish (86) and Xander Bogaerts (86).

MLB The Show 23 releases on March 28, 2023, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series XS. The standard edition for last-generation consoles (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch) is $59.99, while the standard edition for current-generation consoles (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X) costs $69.99.

MLB The Show 23 Collector’s Edition details

Last year, Los Angeles Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani was the featured cover athlete for both the standard and collector’s versions of the game.

With Jeter coming to this year’s title, he gets his very own Captain’s Edition that includes multiple in-game rewards associated with Jeter and usable items in the Diamond Dynasty mode. Those who purchase the Collector’s Edition of MLB The Show 23 will also receive dual entitlement of the game, meaning they get versions for both the previous generation and current generation consoles.

If only the Standard Edition is purchased and the player upgrades to the newer generation console, the cost to upgrade the game will be $10 if the digital edition is purchased.
