Dodgers News: Justin Turner Partners With Slice To Provide Pizzas At Los Angeles Dream Center

3 Min Read

As the world continues to grapple with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, several organizations have mobilized to provide for those feeling the effects of schools and companies closing.

Justin Turner has joined those efforts by partnering with Slice as a means of connecting with local pizzerias who are providing deliveries to foster and underserved families at the Los Angeles Dream Center. Slice is ensuring 400 pizzas get delivered to the Dream Center on Thursday and Friday.

The Dream Center additionally is providing free meals to L.A. Unified School District students and their families, daily from 7:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Lunch services begin at 11:30 a.m., and dinner starts at 4:30 p.m.

Turner and Clayton Kershaw, both of whom regularly work on various initiatives with The Dream Center, have also privately worked to ensure the nonprofit organization could continue providing meals for those in need.

I can’t thank friends like @redturn2 and @court_with_a_K enough during this time of feeding. They never do things recognition but they are contacting family owned restaurants and buying from them to keep them open and to help feed with us. Incredible partners in this. Thank you!

I’m totally blown away by what @redturn2 and Clayton Kershaw are doing for our food program @LADreamCenter they are not only giving but making phone calls asking businesses to supply food for this 11 hour marathon if daily feeding. Just extraordinary.

The relationship between Turner and The Dream Center began when Kourtney Turner participated in an event there several years back. The couple founded the Justin Turner Foundation in 2016, and through that opened a men’s floor for veterans and later a women’s veterans home on The Dream Center campus.

Late last year the Justin Turner Foundation worked with The Dream Center to present the 25th annual Christmas Dreamland. The Turners helped distribute more than 8,000 toys, which were separated by gender and age group to ensure each child received a suitable gift.
