Los Angeles Dodgers legend Fernando Valenzuela is scheduled to appear at the Advance Auto Parts grand opening in Downey on Saturday morning, beginning at 9:30 a.m. PT.

The newest location in Southern California is opening at 10231 Lakewood Blvd., Downey, CA 90241. In addition to the Valenzuela meet and greet, the Auto Parts store is arranging for a food truck to be on hand, along with a car show and opportunity to win a 152-piece DieHard hand tool set.

Advance Auto Parts is going to begin distributing wristbands to meet Valenzuela at 8 a.m. on a first come, first served basis.

“Our local team is thrilled to celebrate our grand opening by welcoming one of the most famous Dodgers pitchers of all time to our store,” Avance vice president of operations Luis Cirino said in a statement.

“We hope that Dodgers fans and automotive DIYers alike enjoy the opportunity to meet Fernando while visiting our new store. We have such a unique car culture in Los Angeles, and no matter what kind of vehicle you own, we’re eager and excited to find the right parts and products to keep your vehicle operating at its best.”

The Dodgers signed a multi-year partnership agreement with Advance Auto Parts last season to make the company the team’s official auto parts retailer.

The exclusive agreement included rights for Carquest Auto Parts, an automotive parts retailer owned by Advance, to also serve as the Dodgers’ official auto parts retailer. Additionally, DieHard batteries, which are owned and sold by Advance and Carquest, carry the designation as the Dodgers’ official car battery.

The sponsorship deal also brought Advance Auto Parts signage to Dodger Stadium, plus the use of Dodgers logos in their retail locations and collaborating on community initiatives. Mexican Heritage Night at Dodger Stadium on May 16 is going to be presented by Advance.

Dodgers celebrating Fernando Valenzuela

The Dodgers announced plans to retire Valenzuela’s No. 34 jersey this season, and he was further celebrated by the team by gracing the cover of the 2023 media guide.
