The Los Angeles Dodgers received unfortunate news after Chris Taylor underwent a CT scan on his left foot, which revealed a small fracture in his left foot.
Taylor had previously missed the series finale against the San Diego Padres on Sunday due to what the Dodgers called a left foot contusion. He started their next game against the Colorado Rockies but was unable to finish the game.
“I thought I would be able to play through it, and it progressively every inning it got worse and worse and got to a point where it wasn’t worth continuing to try to push it,” Taylor said.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed after the game on Tuesday that the club will place Taylor on the injured list, but he was unsure of who the corresponding move would be for.
“Very disappointed, obviously to lose a player like CT,” Roberts said. “But hopefully, it’s not too long-term. I think once we get this swelling out, I think it’s going to be one of those per his tolerance.
“So hopefully it’s not more than a couple weeks.”
While the Dodgers originally considered it a contusion, Roberts added he wasn’t surprised the CT scan revealed a fracture looking back on it.
“You know, when you look back at the way he was laboring, and to come out of a game, you knew it was something more than just a contusion,” Roberts said. “So it all kind of had to make sense. But hopefully, it’s more shorter term than longer.”
Max Muncy disappointed by Taylor’s injury
Max Muncy called the news of Taylor’s injury “very tough” to hear, which is surely a sentiment shared throughout the Dodgers’ clubhouse.
“You know, he’s a grinder for us,” Muncy said. “He’s a great player. He’s been great for us this year, so it’s devastating news to hear that. But CT is also one of the toughest people I’ve ever met, so I’d bank on him being back sooner rather than later.”
