The Los Angeles Dodgers are in the market for at least one starting pitcher this offseason and have already been linked to some of the biggest names available.

That includes Corbin Burnes and Max Fried, who reached free agency after solid 2024 seasons with the Baltimore Orioles and Atlanta Braves, respectively.

Both pitchers have impressive track records and are expected to receive a plethora of interest from other teams in addition to the Dodgers.

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Dodgers and Boston Red Sox are among the teams that have spoken to Burnes and Fried thus far:

Both the Red Sox and Dodgers also are talking to Burnes and Fried, covering their bases the way teams always do at this time of year.

The Red Sox have been mentioned as a landing spot for virtually every top free agent and it is clear they are looking to make a splash this offseason.

Burnes and Fried are California natives, which could possibly give the Dodgers an advantage over other interested teams. However, signing either player won’t come cheap and they both have a qualifying offer attached to them as well.

In terms of other potential options, the Dodgers are believed to be interested in Blake Snell and recently met with the left-hander. They also have their eye on Roki Sasaki, who will be posted by the Chiba Lotte Marines and sign once the 2025 international signing period begins on Jan. 15.

If the Dodgers prefer to go the trade route, they could reignite talks with the Chicago White Sox from this past summer and attempt to acquire Garrett Crochet.

Dodgers starting rotation outlook

The Dodgers have a talented group of starting pitchers already under team control but they could benefit from adding another high-end option to the mix.

Shohei Ohtani is expected to miss the start of the 2025 season as a pitcher, while Tyler Glasnow, Tony Gonsolin and Dustin May are all coming off injuries.

Meanwhile, Walker Buehler and Jack Flaherty both reached free agency and could receive larger offers elsewhere. Clayton Kershaw is on the open market as well, but already confirmed that he will be back with the Dodgers next season.
