The Los Angeles Dodgers 2020 regular season schedule was officially unveiled, and as expected it includes an Opening Day matchup with the San Francisco Giants at 7 p.m. PT on July 23. The Dodgers and Giants will be two of just four teams in action that day.
But before the Dodgers begin their 2020 schedule, they will play three exhibition games. Major League Baseball permitted teams to play up to three exhibitions before the start of the regular season to help make up for the loss of Cactus League and Grapefruit League play.
The Dodgers’ exhibition schedule begins Sunday, July 19, with a matchup against the Arizona Diamondbacks. First pitch at Dodger Stadium is set for 6:10 p.m. The two-game series with the Diamondbacks concludes the following night at 6:40 p.m.
The Dodgers’ final exhibition game will be a Freeway Series matchup as they host the L.A. Angels on Tuesday, July 21. That game also is scheduled to begin at 6:40. The Dodgers and Angels historically play a three-game exhibition Freeway Series prior to a regular season beginning.

After playing the exhibition games the Dodgers will have a day off before returning to the field for Opening Day of the 60-game season. It will be for a short homestand comprised of only four games with the Giants, then lead into a nine-game road trip to face the Houston Astros, Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres.
“I know that it’s nice to open up at home with a team we’re familiar with,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said of his team’s 2020 schedule. “Then get the off day, go to Houston for two days, and then Arizona and San Diego. It’s just going to be a different environment.
“I know our fans were looking forward to getting those guys here, but we’re going to be at their place (first). Sans fans, so it’s going to be a different environment. I’m just expecting to play good baseball against a good ballclub.”
The Dodgers are playing 40 games against National League West opponents and 20 with teams from the American League West.
