The 2020 regular season has not yet started, but the Los Angeles Dodgers 2021 schedule nonetheless has been set. Opening Day for all of MLB next year is scheduled for April 1, and it has the Dodgers facing the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.

The April Fools start marks the fourth consecutive season in which all 30 teams are scheduled to play on Opening Day. Furthermore, next year could be the first time since 1968 that every team plays their first game of the season on the same day.

For the Dodgers it is due to become the first time they begin a season on the road since doing so in 2016. L.A. was the opponent when Colorado held their home opener last year.

After four games with the Rockies, the Dodgers will play a three-game series against the Oakland Athletics prior to taking the field at Dodger Stadium on April 9. Rather than face a National League West opponent in their home opener, the Dodgers are due to play the Washington Nationals.

A wrinkle in the 2021 schedule doesn’t have L.A. facing longtime rival San Francisco Giants until beginning a three-game series at Oracle Park on May 21.

While MLB constructed the 2020 schedule by having clubs play 40 divisional games and the remaining 20 against the same regional division from the opposite league, next year again pits the NL West against the American League West.

So the Dodgers will play the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park for a two-game series from May 25-26, and the teams will meet again at Dodger Stadium from Aug. 3-4.

Per tradition, the Dodgers are home on Jackie Robinson Day (April 15) as they wrap up a three-game set with the Rockies. They otherwise will be on the road for several holidays, including Mother’s Day (@ L.A. Angels), Father’s Day (@ Arizona Diamondbacks) and Fourth of July (@ Nationals).

The Dodgers are home for Memorial Day, when they begin a three-game series with the St. Louis Cardinals.

Although it includes a series in Anaheim, the Dodgers’ longest road trip of the season is 10 games, spanning from April 29-May 9. During that time they will face the Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago Cubs and Angels. The Dodgers play nine consecutive home games from May 11-20.

They wrap up the regular season by facing the Brewers, which is part of a six-game homestand during the final week.

Miscellaneous 2021 schedule notes

Opening Day features 10 divisional matchups among the 15 games in addition to three Interleague contests.

The New York Mets will host the New York Yankees at Citi Field from Sept. 10-12, marking the first time the franchises play each other on Sept. 11 as MLB observes its 20th anniversary. The two teams will also square off earlier in the season at Yankee Stadium during Fourth of July weekend.

The 91st All-Star Game will be played Tuesday, July 13, and hosted by the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park (formerly SunTrust Park). It will be the ballpark’s first Midsummer Classic and the first to be played in Atlanta since 2000 at Turner Field.

The final day of the 2021 regular season on Sunday, Oct. 3, features 12 divisional games.
