The Los Angeles Dodgers 2020 Spring Training schedule was officially unveiled, and it includes a bit of a change as their Cactus League opener is set for Saturday, Feb. 22, against the San Francisco Giants at Scottsdale Stadium.
The Dodgers historically have faced their Camelback Ranch co-tenant Chicago White Sox in the first game of the spring, but that won’t come until Monday, Feb. 24. L.A. will be the designated home team in the first of three meetings with the White Sox.
Of their 30 Cactus League games, the Dodgers play 16 of them at Camelback Ranch, with all but one as the designated home team. The White Sox will be considered such on Saturday, March 14.
The Dodgers are in split-squad action on three dates: Feb. 29 (@ Colorado Rockies; vs. Arizona Diamondbacks), March 12 (@ Chicago Cubs; vs. Oakland Athletics) and March 20 (@ Los Angeles Angels; vs. Kansas City Royals).
The Dodgers play a game at Camelback Ranch on four of six Saturdays during February and March. Their only off days of the spring are March 3 and 10, both of which are Tuesdays.
Start times for 2020 Cactus League games will be announced at a later date. Single-game tickets will be available Jan. 6, 2020.
The Dodgers are entering their 12th year at Camelback Ranch. The property features a state-of-the-art ballpark, six practice fields on the Dodgers’ side, including a replica Dodger Stadium field, fan photo elements commemorating franchise history, walking trails, an orange grove and a five-acre lake.
Per usual, the Dodgers’ Spring Training schedule concludes with the annual exhibition Freeway Series. After breaking camp, the team will return to Southern California for a game at Angel Stadium on Sunday, March 22. The three-game series then shifts to Dodger Stadium on March 23 and 24.
L.A. will then begin the 2020 regular season on Thursday, March 26, by hosting the Giants in the opener of a three-game series. It bests the earliest domestic start date in MLB history (March 28), which was set last year.
Though, the series with the Giants oddly includes a day off Friday before the teams resume play on Saturday and Sunday.
