The Los Angeles Dodgers overcame a plethora of injuries to win the 2024 World Series, which extended an impressive streak for manager Dave Roberts.
He has now led the team to the playoffs in all nine of his seasons as Dodgers manager, including four National League pennants and two World Series titles.
Roberts’ efforts this year did not go unnoticed as he was named Baseball America’s 2024 MLB Manager of the Year.

While Roberts was named the Baseball America’s 2024 MLB Manager of the Year, he did not win the BBWAA award. That honor went to the Milwaukee Brewers’ Pat Murphy, but Roberts still received some votes and finished seventh in voting.
Roberts was also recently honored in his hometown of Naha, Okinawa, Japan. “The award I received today from the city of Naha, I will hold it right next to my World Series trophy,” Roberts said during the ceremony.
“This means just as much as winning the World Series to me.”
Roberts is currently fourth in wins among all-time Dodgers managers with 851. He is entering the final year of his contract, but all indications are that he will sign a long-term extension to remain in L.A.
Max Muncy hopes World Series silences Dave Roberts criticism
The Dodgers entered the 2024 season as strong favorites to win the World Series, but by no means had an easy path to doing so.
The Dodgers faced adversity all year due to the plethora of injuries that piled up, particularly in their starting rotation. They had to navigate multiple bullpen games in the postseason, which required Roberts to really be on top of things.
Max Muncy believes Roberts did an excellent job given the circumstances and hopes he quieted all of his past critics.
