The Los Angeles Rams fell to a disappointing 1-2 after losing to the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night Football.
The Rams dominated during the first two quarters of the game and took a 16-0 lead into halftime. But the tide turned in the third quarter as the Broncos stormed back to even the score.
That led to an entertaining fourth quarter as there were multiple lead changes and plenty of momentum-shifting plays. The Rams led by three late in the game, but gave up the go-ahead touchdown with less than a minute remaining. L.A. never quit and had a chance to win it on the final play but came up short.
The Rams haven’t gotten off to the start they were looking for this season, but Davante Adams believes it is too early to hit the panic button.
“Just stay in it. It’s nothing to freak out about, man. There’s a lot of football left,” Adams told the California Post. “It’s not like we’re not playing good ball, obviously excluding that first game. Unfortunately, it’s… I don’t know if it’s unfortunate, but based on our situation, unfortunately this league is about wins and losses. There’s a lot we can take from a game like this and feel good about. But there’s no moral victories, so definitely disappointed to not finish it out. Just got to get back to what we do and that’s going back to practice and get back to the drawing board and just find a way to finish out some of these games.”
As Adams noted, the Rams could very easily be 2-1 right now despite missing two of their biggest stars in Puka Nacua and Myles Garrett.
Adams has stepped up in a big way with Nacua unavailable, exceeding 100 receiving yards in back-to-back games. The defense has also been solid for the most part without Garrett, and it certainly helps to have future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald back on the defensive line.
Things won’t get easier for the Rams as they continue to play out one of the toughest schedules in all of football. In the next two weeks alone, L.A. will face a pair of Super Bowl contenders in the Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills.
And while that’s an imposing stretch, the Rams remain confident that they have enough talent on their roster to help them get back on track, even without Nacua and Garrett.
Puka Nacua could undergo surgery
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Nacua has been mostly dealing with a groin injury, and while he could return for the Rams’ Week 4 game against the Eagles, the team also isn’t ruling out the star wide receiver getting surgery if he continues being limited.
That would be a difficult pill to swallow for the Rams, but they are hopeful it won’t come down to that.
