Clayton Kershaw is hosting the second annual “Camp Kersh: Pitching For Purpose” on Thursday, with registration free and open to players of all ages and skill levels. Complete details of the virtual event and registration can be completed at CampKersh.com.
Los Angeles Dodgers pitching coach Mark Prior and teammates David Price Justin Turner will join Kershaw in providing instruction to campers. Turner has previously hosted his own day of instruction in partnership with ProCamps in years past.
Kershaw will share tips virtually and take part in an exclusive Q&A, and the session feature pitching fundamentals, gameday preparation and training insight. Proceeds from the second annual “Camp Kersh: Pitching For Purpose” will benefit Kershaw’s Challenge.
This year’s beneficiaries are Behind Every Door and Shoes that Fit in Dallas, Los Angeles Dream Center, Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, Arise Africa and Both Ends Believing in Zambia, and International Justice Mission and Both Ends Believing in the Dominican Republic.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to bring Camp Kersh back again in 2021,” Kershaw said in a statement.
“I would like to thank our event sponsors for making the camp possible; Skechers as our title sponsor, along with Ball Park Buns, FIJI Water, Security Benefit, Spectrum News, Spectrum Solutions, Travis Mathew, UCLA Health, Wonderful Pistachios, and others also supporting this year’s event.”
Donations to Kershaw’s Challenge will also be accepted at CampKersh.com. Since its inception in 2011, the foundation formed by Clayton and Ellen Kershaw has raised more than $14 million to support at-risk children and families around the globe.
Kershaw helps unveil Dodgers Dreamfields
Over the weekend, Kershaw threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the unveiling of two Dodgers Dreamfields.
“This is for you guys. All these people here today, everybody around here, we’re all here because we want you all to succeed,” Kershaw told the children in attendance. “And it’s not just about baseball. Baseball is just a game, y’all know that.
“It’s a ton of fun, I love baseball, but it’s about what baseball represents. It’s about being part of a team, it’s about getting the opportunity to do something with friends, it’s about being active, it’s about having a ton of fun. That’s the one thing y’all can do for all of us.
“Thank you guys so much for letting me be here today. It’s always so fun to see these completed. It’s a culmination of a lot of peoples’ hard work. Thank you to the parents, thank you to everybody for coming, and let’s have a good time on these fields.”
