BREAKING: Raiders’ Kelechi Osemele, Khalil Mack Named First-Team All-Pro

The Associated Press announced their annual All-Pro selections on Friday, with Oakland Raiders’ guard Kelechi Osemele and pass rusher Khalil Mack getting selected. This marked Mack’s second consecutive selection, after becoming the first player in NFL history to get selected as a linebacker and defensive end last season.

This marked Osemele’s first selection as an All-Pro player, in his first season with the Raiders. During the offseason, Raiders’ general manager Reggie McKenzie gave him a five-year contract, with $25.4 million guaranteed. That contract was the largest for a guard in NFL history, paying dividends already.

A nationwide panel of 50 sports writers and broadcasters who regularly cover the NFL voted on the selections. It was the first time that ballots were cast for specific positions on the offensive line, a flex offensive player, a fifth defensive back, a punt returner and a special teamer.

In 16 games played this season, Mack totaled 11 sacks, 54 tackles (19 assisted), five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, three passes defended and a pick-six.

His presence along the defensive line caused constant problems for the opposition, with him performing clutch, game-winning plays for the Raiders this season. Both Mack and Osemele received an outstanding number of votes, with Mack receiving 46 of 50 votes, while Osemele got 47 of 50.

Osemele headlines the improved offensive line, alongside Pro Bowler Donald Penn. In his first season with the Raiders, Osemele was selected to the Pro Bowl, as he, Penn, and Rodney Hudson provided one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.

The offensive line allowed a league low 18 sacks this season, while creating constant holes for the sixth-ranked rushing attack (120.1 YPG).

Punter Marquette King was the lone second team selection for the Raiders, while Hudson finished third amongst centers.

In a season that has been labeled a return to greatness, certain Raiders have been receiving recognition for all the hard work they have put forth this season. Raiders 411 would like to congratulate Mack and Osemele for their hard work and recognition this season!
