The Las Vegas Raiders are in for some major change following the 2022 season as they’ve decided to move in a different direction at quarterback.

Derek Carr’s time with the Silver and Black is nearing its end as the Raiders are expected to release him later this week. Las Vegas had been looking for trade partners, but Carr didn’t waive his no-trade clause so he could choose his next team.

Carr was a popular player in the locker room and Maxx Crosby wished his friend all the best via SiriusXM NFL:

“The whole situation was tough. Anytime you lose a teammate, anytime somebody walks out the door you feel a certain type of way and that’s the emotional part of the game. But at the end of the day, NFL’s a billion dollar business and everyone understands that. I’ve had hundreds and hundreds of teammates, I had guys that were my boy and then boom. I would come back the next day and he’s gone and that’s the rough part about it. Obviously with DC it’s a different type of situation. He’s a quarterback, me and him have been boys since Day 1. I have that emotional part of it like, ‘Damn, they’re getting rid of my boy I’m upset about it.’ But at the same time…you talk about the leadership part, I gotta be there for my guys. We had still had two games left, the quarterback’s gone, I gotta still go out there and lead by example and go out to practice and not be going half-assed because we’re out of the playoffs.

“That’s the type of things you gotta focus on especially in those hard moments. Stidham was up and we’re like, ‘Nah, Stidham you’re our guy let’s go.’ And that’s the tough part of the business. Life’s not fair in general, especially this business it’s tough for anybody. But I’m wishing him the best. DC’s my boy, everyone knows that. That’s my guy and I wish him nothing but the best. And I think wherever he goes he’s gonna have success and obviously for our team I feel like we’re gonna have success as well. We just gotta get going in the right direction.”

Crosby has definitely seen his fair share of teammates come and go during his career, but this has to be the most impactful one given what Carr’s meant to the franchise over the years. While it’s a bitter end to Carr’s tenure, fans should share Crosby’s sentiments and root for him wherever he ultimately ends up.
