With Tom Brady choosing to retire from football, the question of who will be the next quarterback of the Las Vegas Raiders has shifted. While other names have been mentioned, much of the focus has now turned to another legendary quarterback and someone very familiar with Raiders star receiver Davante Adams, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Of course, Rodgers and Adams had a ton of success together in Green Bay and after a disappointing season for the Packers, it seems like a very real possibility that they could move on from their long-time quarterback. And if this is the case, Adams is all for a reunion with his former signal caller.
While at the Pro Bowl this past weekend, Adams spoke with Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal and called Rodgers joining the Raiders a dream scenario:
“A million percent,” Adams said about expressing that wish to the Raiders. “A hundred percent, that’s exactly what I’m trying to portray […] “Would I be interested in having Aaron Rodgers throw to me?” Adams said. “Yes. I would love that […] I would love to have that, and obviously, that would be a dream scenario. One that I’m very familiar with.”
That familiarity and the success they had is obviously something very attractive to Adams and bringing in Rodgers would be very attractive to the Raiders as well. He is the star that this franchise is looking for and the type of quarterback head coach Josh McDaniels would love to have under center operating his offense.
Obviously, nothing is for certain, but Adams plans on having some talks with the Raiders front office and he will make his desires clear:
“There’s a lot of conversations to be had, still, in the near future,” Adams said. “We’ll see what happens, but that’s obviously something I’d go in and talk about.”
It won’t be cheap to bring in a player of Rodgers’ caliber and the Raiders will have to be careful about what they would give up in a potential deal as it is unclear how much longer Rodgers plans on playing football. But this franchise is looking to make a leap now and return to the NFL’s elite.
While there are other needs on the roster, in this day and age you can not succeed without having the right player under center. Bringing in Rodgers would already be something the Raiders would be interested in, but with Adams campaigning like this, the front office could be pushed even harder to make it happen.
