The Los Angeles Dodgers are in the midst of a historic stretch that includes 14 consecutive postseason appearances, 13 National League West titles, five NL pennants and three World Series championships since 2013.

The Dodgers’ rich history and unprecedented success have helped them become one of the most popular teams in all of sports. They consistently lead all teams in attendance each season, both at Dodger Stadium and on the road, and are especially beloved throughout Los Angeles.

The Lakers were always considered the city’s most popular team, but manager Dave Roberts believes the tide has turned and that the Dodgers now hold the crown.

“Yes. You know what’s funny, Los Angeles has always been looked at — as far as sports — a Laker town. I don’t know, I think we might have marketshare now in Los Angeles,” Roberts recently said on SportsNet LA. “It’s great. With the Dodger jerseys you see everywhere, we draw more fans than anyone in the world.

“The home dates that we have, it’s 45-50,000 every night. We travel well. I do think our guys see it. They feed off of it. But for me, I don’t let myself feel it too much and I try to encourage our guys just to stay in the moment, just win and let everything else take care of itself.”

While the Lakers remain one of the hottest tickets in town, they haven’t enjoyed the same level of success as the Dodgers in recent years and are entering somewhat of a transitional period with LeBron James no longer on their roster.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers are now trying to become the first team in 26 years to pull off a three-peat, which would further cement them among the greatest dynasties in MLB history.

The two teams nevertheless have a strong relationship and routinely collaborate with each other, whether it be through special themed ticket packages or player appearances.

Stan Kasten credits Dodgers fans

Even when putting aside their recent accomplishments, the Dodgers have long benefited from one of the most loyal fanbases in sports. Team president and CEO Stan Kasten has credited their fans’ unwavering support for allowing them to continually invest in the on-field product and assemble the best roster possible.
