Terrance Ferguson Hoping To Make Strides In Second Season With Rams

Coming into his second season after being a second-round pick in 2025, there is some optimism about what tight end Terrance Ferguson can bring to this Los Angeles Rams offense. The Rams use multiple tight end sets more than any other team and Ferguson’s ability as a receiver should allow for him to be a bigger weapon for Sean McVay this year.

As a rookie, Ferguson totaled just 11 receptions for 231 yards, though he did add three touchdowns as well. And for 2026, Ferguson is feeling a lot more comfortable in McVay’s offense and his ability to operate in any position in it, via Stu Jackson of therams.com:

“I feel a lot better about it,” Ferguson told therams.com. “One, just the time I had under the system, you get to learn a lot more. You get to dive into why you’re doing things, and that really helps me out. But also, I’ve been asked to play every position, right? So for me, it’s not understanding just what one position does, but knowing what every skill position has to do on every play, pretty much because of our personnel variety and how we work that, it just kind of has given me a wider grasp of the offense.”

Ferguson would continue, making it clear that he hopes to have an expanded role and is capable of contributing in all aspects of the game:

“I did some of that last year as well,” Ferguson said, referring to being asked to play every position. “But I think one of my best things coming out of college was some of the underneath stuff that I did and yards after catch and being able to bring that to this offense as well, and just kind of expanding what I can do. I’d like to be part of the run game as well. … So being able to be a part, a factor in the run game, being at the point of attack, and being a weapon where I can be used all the way outside, in-line whether that’s blocking duo or whether it’s anything. I just want to be involved in all aspects of the game.”

Make no mistake, the Rams have a crowded tight end room. Colby Parkinson, Tyler Higbee and Davis Allen all contributed last season and the team selected Max Klare in the second-round of the 2026 NFL Draft as well. But Ferguson has the most potential as a receiver of the group and he is ready to show what he can do and have a big breakout year for this Rams team that has Super Bowl aspirations.

Puka Nacua expected to suit up for Rams season opener vs. 49ers

The Rams’ top weapon on offense remains wide receiver Puka Nacua and while there were concerns about whether he would be available for Week 1. But Nacua is expected to suit up for the season opener against the San Francisco 49ers.
