When it comes to pure shooters, Luka Doncic’s name isn’t always one that is brought up regularly. For his career he is only a 35.2% shooter from deep, has never shot better than 38.2% in a single season and last year shot a very good, but not mind-blowing, 36.6% from 3-point range. But numbers don’t always tell the entire story as anyone who has had to defend the Los Angeles Lakers’ superstar has had plenty of 3-pointers knocked down right in their face.
The latest edition of the popular NBA 2K video game series has clearly taken the actual eye test into account when ranking the best 3-point shooters for NBA 2K27. Doncic was listed in the top-10 best shooters for the series, coming in at No. 7 with a 92 rating, via NBA 2K on X:

Doncic may not be considered a pure shooter, but make no mistake, the opposition has looks of complete fear any time he is open behind the arc. And what makes Doncic so great is that he is also one of the best in the league at making difficult 3-pointers as many of his threes come off the dribble or on step-backs with a defender right in his face and he is still knocking them down at an above average rate on extremely high volume as he led the league in 3-pointers made per game.
Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is rightfully at the top of the list and far ahead of everyone else with the only 99 rating. He is followed by Kon Knueppel of the Charlotte Hornets, who led the NBA in 3-pointers made as a rookie. Detroit Pistons sharpshooter Duncan Robinson comes in at third, followed by former Laker Luke Kennard, who led the league in 3-point percentage. Damian Lillard rounds out the top five after winning his third NBA 3-Point Contest of his career despite missing the entire season with a ruptured Achilles.
Anthony Edwards has the sixth spot, followed by Doncic and Houston Rockets superstar Kevin Durant at eight. A pair of Cleveland Cavaliers round out the top 10 in Max Strus and Sam Merrill.
Luka Doncic is 100% recovered from left hamstring strain
Doncic’s outstanding season was cut short last year due to a Grade 2 left hamstring strain that kept him out of the Lakers’ entire playoff run. But he recently announced that he is 100% recovered from the injury.
