Former Bills Head Coach Sean McDermott Visited Rams

The Los Angeles Rams are in the middle of holding training camp workouts and recently had a familiar face stop by to visit them.

According Adam Schefter of ESPN, former Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott met with Rams coaches to get a better sense of how they operate:

McDermott was let go as the Bills head coach after the team’s 33-30 loss to the Denver Broncos in the AFC Divisional Round last season. He led Buffalo for nine years and helped turn them into a championship contender despite never reaching the Super Bowl.

McDermott and Sean McVay are two of the most respected coaches in football, so it’s no surprise that the two were open to collaborating. They are always trying to find ways to evolve and jumped at the opportunity to share insights with each other.

There’s no indication that the Rams have discussed McDermott potentially joining McVay’s coaching staff, but the possibility shouldn’t be ruled out later down the road. McDermott could accept an assistant role while he waits for another head coaching opportunity.

The Rams are scheduled to host the Bills in Week 5 at SoFi Stadium this season in what will be their first meeting in nearly two years. Joe Brady, who was McDermott’s offensive coordinator, is now leading the Bills.

Sean McVay: Arrow trending upwards for Aaron Donald return to Rams

Aaron Donald has been contemplating a return to the NFL after the Rams acquired Myles Garrett this offseason. Even though he hasn’t yet joined the team, he has been working out on his own to see if he can get that fire back to return for an 11th NFL season after taking two years off.

And while there still isn’t a decision, McVay believes things are trending in the right direction for Donald to return.

It was always unlikely that Donald would join the Rams for training camp, but once they return to their Woodland Hills practice facility and begin their preparation for Week 1, the 10-time Pro Bowler should have an answer.
