Freddy Peralta continued his dominant season Tuesday night, striking out 10 over six innings to collect his National League-leading 17th win as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Los Angeles Angels 9-2 at American Family Field. Christian Yelich supported the effort with his 29th home run and three runs batted in as the Brewers’ offense provided early and steady run support.

Oddsmakers had Milwaukee as a firm favorite entering the matchup, with the Brewers listed at -200 on the moneyline and the Angels at +165. The total was set at 8.5 runs, and the clubs cleared that figure as Milwaukee’s offense steadily built a commanding lead.

Peralta, an All-Star, improved to 17-6 while tying Max Fried of the New York Yankees for the major league lead in victories. He also matched Milwaukee’s single-season win mark set by Zach Davies in 2017. Peralta allowed just two hits, one of them a bloop single by Carter Kieboom, and the other a first-career home run by rookie Denzer Guzmán. He walked two but struck out the side in the first, second, and sixth innings, marking the 15th time he has recorded at least 10 strikeouts and the first time he has done so this season.

Yelich opened the scoring in the first inning with an RBI double and later added a two-run homer in the fourth off Angels starter Caden Dana. The outfielder finished with three runs batted in, continuing one of his most productive stretches of the season. However, Milwaukee’s offense did not rely solely on Yelich; Sal Frelick contributed a sacrifice fly, Caleb Durbin, Andrew Vaughn, and Jackson Chourio each drove in runs, and William Contreras delivered a two-run single. Christian Moore capped the scoring with a solo home run in the seventh inning off reliever Grant Anderson.

Dana, making his second major league start, fell to 0-2 after giving up five runs on eight hits across 3 2/3 innings. The rookie struggled to locate pitches consistently, and Milwaukee took advantage by putting traffic on the bases in nearly every inning of his outing.

For Los Angeles, the night also marked a milestone for Kieboom, who made his Angels debut at first base after having his contract selected earlier. His first appearance in the majors since October 1, 2023, when he was with Washington. To make room on the roster, the Angels placed shortstop Zach Neto on the 10-day injured list with a strained left hand.

The loss continued a difficult stretch for the Angels, who have struggled to find offensive consistency. Guzmán’s home run was a bright spot, but the lineup managed only two hits against Peralta and could not mount a rally against Milwaukee’s bullpen.

The Brewers will attempt to build on the win on Wednesday when right-hander Brandon Woodruff (6-2, 3.32 ERA) takes the mound against Los Angeles right-hander José Soriano (10-10, 4.13 ERA).
