The Los Angeles Rams got a resurgent year from Matthew Stafford in 2023 as he was able to stay healthy for most of the year and wound up leading the team back to the postseason.

Stafford looked noticeably slimmer and agile, a sign that he still has what it takes to lead a team deep into the playoffs and compete for a Super Bowl championship. While Stafford still has his most reliable option in Cooper Kupp, he’s also got more help in the form of Puka Nacua, who looks like a star, as well as fellow veteran Demarcus Robinson, who became a trusted target in the passing game down the stretch.

Heading into 2024, though, head coach Sean McVay seems intent on leaning into his running game some more after the team re-invested in their offensive line and drafted Blake Corum to pair with Kyren Williams. Like Williams, Corum is a tough, physical runner who might not beat people down field with his speed but reads gaps well and churn out extra yards.

Although Corum hasn’t gotten a chance to work with Stafford directly, he had high praise for the signal caller after the Rams’ offseason workouts, via The Rich Eisen Show:

“I haven’t sat down with Stafford and picked his brain, but let me just tell you this: His ball placement, his IQ – phenomenal quarterback. It’s crazy how he puts the ball where no one else can get it. It’s absolutely ridiculous. He’s great, man.”

Stafford’s widely considered one of the best pure passers in the NFL and Corum couldn’t help but be impressed with what he can do on the field:

“The way he can look this way but throw the ball this way, it blows my mind. But that’s why he’s been in the league so long and been great at what he does for so long. It’s exciting being in the backfield with Matthew Stafford.”

Stafford is currently in negotiations with the team on restructuring his contract to secure more guaranteed money, but the sense is a deal will get done before the start of the season. With Stafford under center, the Rams are poised to improve upon last year.

Rams’ Kyren Williams calls Matthew Stafford a dog

Kyren Williams got to see first-hand what it’s like to play alongside Matthew Stafford as he had a career-year toting the football for the Rams. Like Blake Corum, Williams had nothing but good things to say about Stafford whom he called a dog.
