Going into last season, there were some pretty lofty expectations placed on the Las Vegas Raiders after the offseason moves that were made. Many bought into it, but one legend who was a bit more skeptical was Hall of Fame wide receiver Tim Brown.

Brown was obviously rooting for the success of the Raiders, but he simply wanted to see everything come together first and unfortunately, he was right. Things never quite got on track, and the Raiders finished just 6-11 for the year.

Now going into the 2023 season, Brown feels the same way, even stronger in fact. Brown spoke with Bill Williamson of Silver and Black Pride and said he wants to see head coach Josh McDaniels bring everything together, and he’ll be his biggest fan if he does so:

“That was real,” he said. “I’m even more so that way now. I want to see it and maybe will happen but I have questions. (McDaniels) is supposed to be a magician, so let’s see him do it I’ll be his greatest fan if do it, but I don’t know if I’ll be his biggest critic if not, but ill always say what I feel and be real about it.”

The Raiders certainly have the talent on offense, with perhaps one of the best sets of skill position players in the entire league. But it will be up to new quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to get the best out of his teammates. And that is one concern for Brown as he noted how Davante Adams and the rest of the Raiders receivers haven’t been able to develop chemistry with their new quarterback as he recovers from his foot issue:

“Davante hasn’t been able to catch one ball from (Garoppolo),“ Brown said. “They’re both pros so it shouldn’t take too long to get it all together, but it’s going to take time … Again, I have a lot of questions I want to answered before getting excited. I’m always hopeful and I’m the Silver and Black until the end. I just want to see success.”

Garoppolo has proven he can succeed with the right pieces and he has that in Las Vegas. With Adams, Josh Jacobs, Jakobi Meyers and rookie Michael Mayer the Raiders offense should be able to put up plenty of points.

Brown like everyone else wants to see the Raiders back in the postseason with massive success, but he will keep his expectations in check until he sees the evidence that they can put it all together on the field.
