The Los Angeles Dodgers agreed to terms with 29 amateur free agents, including 16 pitchers, four catchers, six infielders and three outfielders to open the 2025 international signing period.
The Dodgers previously announced the signing of Roki Sasaki, who headlines their list as the No. 1 ranked international free agent. The club also held an introductory press conference to welcome Sasaki to the city after a long process of pursuing him.
Sasaki went 10-5 with a 2.35 ERA in 111 innings last year for the Chiba Lotte Marines. The Japanese native went 30-15 with a 2.02 ERA in four seasons with the Marines. He struck out 524 batters in 414.2 innings with three complete games and a 0.883 WHIP in 69 career games.
The Dodgers also added right-handed pitcher Joseph Deng, who is the first player in Major League Baseball history to sign a professional contract from South Sudan. The 6-foot-7 pitcher is one of two players to sign from Africa, joining Armstrong Muhoozi, an infielder from Uganda who signed with the Pirates.
The Dodgers rounded out their star-studded class with highly-touted pitcher Adrian Torres from Panama, who is regarded as the best left-handed pitching prospect in the class by many international scouts.
The Dodgers’ newest international class comes with players from seven different countries, led by Venezuela with 12 signees, the Dominican Republic with eight and Mexico with four.
