Managers Brian Snitker and Dusty Baker unveiled the 2022 MLB All-Star Game lineups, and it represented change for Mookie Betts and Trea Turner.

Having recently been locked into the leadoff spot and two-hole, respectively, in the Los Angeles Dodgers lineup, Betts and Turner are due to bat second and fifth for the National League. It marks a first time either is hitting in that spot of an order this year.

Furthermore, Betts is playing center field rather than his usual right field, which is where NL leading vote-getter Ronald Acuña Jr. is starting. The Atlanta Braves’ All-Star also supplanted Betts from his traditional leadoff spot in the lineup.

Betts is making a sixth career All-Star Game appearance, and second with the Dodgers. However, this year is his first time playing in the annual showcase since being traded to L.A. Betts skipped the 2021 All-Star Game at Coors Field due to nagging injuries.

He recently returned from a fractured right rib that has yet to fully heal but is merely a matter of pain tolerance.

Betts is 1-for-7 with one run scored in All-Star play.

Turner is appearing in a second All-Star Game, with the first coming last season. This is his first time starting the Midsummer Classic. Turner went 0-for-2 upon appearing off the bench.

The Dodgers have multiple position players in an All-Star Game lineup for the first time since 1980, which coincided with their last opportunity to host.
