Although the MLB lockout remains in place, the 2022 Los Angeles Dodgers Spring Training cap by New Era has been released, along with the version for St. Patrick’s Day.
The New Era 59FIFTY Spring Training cap is available for purchase, and the Dodgers again are due to sport a blue lid with their “LA” logo embroidered on the front and Cactus League logo on the right panel.
However, the 2022 hat differs from recent years in that most of it is constructed with see-through mesh.
Also released was the St. Patrick’s Day version of the 2022 Spring Training hat. If the lockout has ended and changes aren’t made to their schedule, Dodgers are due to host the Milwaukee Brewers.
Dodgers pitchers and catchers were scheduled to report to Camelback Ranch last week, and considering the past few years, they likely would have been joined by position players as well for unofficial full-squad workouts.
But camps across the sport were not opened because of the lockout, and heading into the weekend MLB announced Spring Training games wouldn’t be played at least until Saturday, March 5. MLB and the Players Association (MLBPA) are due to meet several times this week, which could prove pivotal to getting a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) in place.
At present time, the Dodgers now don’t open their Cactus League schedule until a week later than initially set. If games do begin on March 5, L.A. will face the Chicago White Sox and Texas Rangers in split-squad action.
Navigating shortened Spring Training
No matter what unfolds with CBA negotiations, 2022 Spring Training will be shortened in some capacity. Justin Turner and Cody Bellinger agreed they could still prepare over roughly one month before the regular season, though they both acknowledged it could be problematic for pitchers.
