With two rounds completed, the NFL playoffs have failed to disappoint. Nearly every game has been a nailbiter and there have been quite a few upsets.
The excitement following the first round carried over into the second as in the NFC, the Green Bay Packers scraped out a win over the Seattle Seahawks.
Although Aaron Rodgers played well, it was really their defense that led them to their 28-23 victory. The Seahawks got the ball back with less than five minutes remaining and a chance to take the lead, however, they were forced into a three-and-out and the Packers got the ball back, running out the clock to win the game.
The Packers will be taking on the San Francisco 49ers after the latter handled their business against the Minnesota Vikings. As has been the case all season, the 49ers defense shined, shutting down any momentum the Vikings might have hoped to build. They limited the Vikings to just seven first downs and 45 plays on their way to a 27-10 victory.
It was the AFC was where the real excitement was with the Tennessee Titans shocked the world yet again, defeating the Baltimore Ravens. While Lamar Jackson may soon be the MVP of the league, the Titans found success in their red zone defense and limited the league’s best dual-threat quarterbacl. Derrick Henry finished with 190 rushing yards and the Titans earned a 28-12 win a week after upsetting the New England Patriots.
The Titans’ challenging postseason schedule continues as they face the Kansas City Chiefs for the AFC Championship. The Chiefs took on the Houston Texans in the divisional series, finding themselves in trouble early on.
Houston jumped out to an early 24-0 lead thanks in part to a blocked punt. However, the reigning NFL MVP, Patrick Mahomes, changed the tides as he quickly amassed five touchdown passes on the day. The Chiefs ended up winning 51-31 in the offensive showcase to make it back to the AFC Championship Game.
