Mookie Betts is not with the Los Angeles Dodgers to start their road trip, but there is still a reunion taking place with Walker Buehler.

After being drafted by the Dodgers in the first round in 2015 and spending parts of eight seasons in the Majors with the team, Buehler signed a one-year contract with the Boston Red Sox during the offseason.

He did so coming off a heroic performance in the postseason that culminated with closing out the World Series against the New York Yankees.

With this weekend being the first time Buehler is seeing the Dodgers since joining the Red Sox, he was presented with his 2024 World Series ring and an MLB gold program jersey by Clayton Kershaw, Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman and more former teammates.

Buehler follows in the footsteps of Jack Flaherty, Ryan Brasier, Brent Honeywell, Clayton McCullough, Daniel Hudson, Ryan Yarbrough, Joe Kelly and Miguel Vargas of receiving his 2024 Dodgers World Series ring after the fact due to no longer being with the team.

Flaherty didn’t need to wait much longer than his former Dodgers teammates due to the Detroit Tigers beginning the 2025 season at Dodger Stadium.

Honeywell, Hudson and Buehler did not receive the added benefit of being presented with their hardware in front of Dodgers fans. Though, the Dodgers did share a tribute video to celebrate and thank Buehler after he officially signed with the Red Sox.

Walker Buehler pitching against Dodgers

Coming off an encouraging start in what’s been an uneven season thus far with the Red Sox, Buehler is next scheduled to pitch in the series finale against the Dodgers.
