Mike Trout connected for the 400th home run of his career. Kyle Hendricks delivered seven strong innings as the Los Angeles Angels defeated the Colorado Rockies 3-0 on Saturday night at Coors Field. The victory snapped an eight-game losing streak for Los Angeles and marked a personal milestone for its longtime star.

Oddsmakers listed the Angels as narrow -115 favorites on the moneyline, with the Rockies at -105. The over/under was set at 10.5 runs, a figure that fell comfortably under as pitching controlled the game.

Trout’s landmark home run came in the eighth inning against Colorado reliever Jaden Hill. The three-time American League Most Valuable Player launched a 485-foot drive to left-center field, extending the Angels’ lead to 3-0. The blast was Trout’s first in 10 days and only his second in 37 games, underscoring the significance of the achievement. He has now hit six home runs with 12 runs batted in across 15 career games at Coors Field, where his batting average sits at .400.

Taylor Ward and Nolan Schanuel also provided power for the Angels. Ward hit his 34th home run of the season in the second inning to break a scoreless tie, placing him among the top 10 in the majors in home runs. Schanuel added a solo homer in the fifth to widen the lead to 2-0.

Hendricks, making his 300th career start, rebounded from his previous outing when he surrendered a career-high nine earned runs against Seattle on September 14. The right-hander allowed only three hits over seven shutout innings, striking out five without a walk. He improved to 8-10 on the year and has now allowed three or fewer earned runs in 13 of his last 18 starts.

The Rockies had limited opportunities against Hendricks and the Angels’ bullpen. Hunter Goodman collected two of Colorado’s five hits, but the home team struggled to sustain rallies. Their best chance came in the ninth inning when they loaded the bases against reliever Luis García. The right-hander induced a game-ending double play from Jordan Beck to secure his second save of the season.

Germán Márquez took the loss despite a quality start for Colorado. The veteran right-hander worked a season-high seven innings, giving up just four hits and two earned runs while striking out five. Márquez fell to 3-15, though his performance kept the Rockies within reach until Trout’s decisive swing.

The Angels’ victory ended a frustrating stretch and highlighted the significance of Trout’s milestone. He became just the 61st player in major league history to reach 400 career home runs, further cementing his place among the game’s elite sluggers.

Los Angeles will look to claim the series on Sunday, though the team has not announced a starter for the finale. Colorado is scheduled to send left-hander Kyle Freeland (4-16, 5.14 ERA) to the mound as the Rockies attempt to bounce back and avoid dropping consecutive series at home.
