Shohei Ohtani once again finished the regular season with the most popular MLB jersey, and he’s among four Los Angeles Dodgers players to make the list for 2026.
Ohtani was joined by Freddie Freeman (No. 6), Mookie Betts (No. 8) and Yoshinobu Yamamoto (No. 9). Betts and Freeman also made the top-20 ranking of MLB jersey sales for the 2025 season, and Clayton Kershaw represented the Dodgers as well.
Another deep postseason run, especially if it culminates with the Dodgers completing a three-peat, presumably will further fuel jersey sales heading into 2027.
Shohei Ohtani’s jersey sales make history
Ohtani is the first player to have four consecutive seasons with the most popular jersey. Last season he became the fourth player in MLB history to have the highest-selling jersey three seasons in a row. At the time he joined Derek Jeter (2010-12), Aaron Judge (2017-19) and Betts (2020-22).
Meanwhile, with Yamamoto checking it ninth and Chicago White Sox rookie Munetaka Murakami appearing 20th on this year’s list, it’s the first time three players from Japan had their jerseys rank in MLB’s top 20.
The annual list of MLB’s most popular jerseys is based on sales of Nike player jerseys from the Fanatics network of sites, including MLBShop.com. For the encompassing 2026 ranking, sales were tracked since Opening Day.
MLB began monitoring the most popular jerseys in 2010.
Strong support for Ohtani, Freeman, Betts and Yamamoto also showed in the Dodgers surpassing 4 million in Dodger Stadium for a second consecutive season. This year’s home tickets sold total of 4,034,219 is the most in franchise history.
