Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay has proven to be one of, if not the best, head coaches in the NFL as he consistently has the team in playoff contention.

The Rams just missed out on a berth to Super Bowl LX after a close loss to the eventual champions the Seattle Seahawks, though McVay deserves credit for leading them that far into the postseason. Los Angeles understandably feels like they wasted a golden opportunity to win another Super Bowl, but the roster is still in a place where it can compete for one in 2026.

Alongside McVay, general manager Les Snead also deserves credit for the Rams’ success as he’s managed to put together a young and talented roster throughout free agency and the NFL Draft. For their efforts, the organization agreed to contract extensions for both men and McVay expressed his gratitude, via Eric Edholm of NFL.com:

“It means a lot,” McVay said Monday of the extension alongside Snead. “I’m just really grateful. I’m grateful for our players and our coaches because these opportunities don’t present themself if you’re not around great people.

“It’s ownership, it’s other guys in the leadership group, it’s players, it’s coaches, and they deserve a ton of credit. I’m excited to be able to continue to build with them moving forward.”

Under McVay and Snead’s leadership, the Rams have built a strong locker room culture that is attractive to prospective free agents. By agreeing to extensions with McVay and Snead, Los Angeles should be able to build on what they currently have to hopefully become an even stronger contender moving forward.

While the Rams could make an argument they should have won it all this year, there were glaring holes on the roster that needed to be addressed before the start of the 2026 season. The most dire need was in the secondary as the outside corners weren’t nearly good enough, but the team addressed that with the additions of Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson.

Additionally, the Rams have resources in the form of three draft picks in the first three rounds, including No. 13 overall. McVay and Snead do a great job of identifying players who their needs and culture, so it’ll be exciting to see who they add between now and training camp.

Sean McVay says Rams feel good with Matthew Stafford at quarterback

Another key piece driving the Rams’ success is Matthew Stafford, who officially announced he is returning for the 2026 season. Stafford is coming off an MVP year, so it’s no surprise that Sean McVay said the team feels good with him at quarterback.
