One thing the Los Angeles Rams seem to value under their new coaching staff is versatility, with a number of players expected to see time at numerous positions in 2020.

Chief among those players is Jalen Ramsey, who is one of the best lockdown cornerbacks in the league. The Rams recently revealed that they plan to move Ramsey all around the field this season to show off his versatility, as opposed to remaining on one side of the field as he has done for a lot of his career.

Ramsey isn’t the only defensive player that will be moving around though as the same likely can be said for 2020 third-round draft pick Terrell Burgess, who played both cornerback and safety in his time at Utah.

With the departure of Nickell Robey-Coleman, Burgess is expected to compete for time at the slot corner position, where he had a ton of success in college. He said the Rams have yet to tell him where he will be playing though, via Gary Klein of the L.A. Times:

“There was no clarification as to where,” Burgess said after the Rams chose him in the third round. “I’m just excited to be able to go in there and see what I can do to help the team win.”

Rams head coach Sean McVay pointed to Burgess’ football IQ as a reason they will trust him in different spots, even as a rookie:

“He’s smart, he picks things up quickly, he’s got all those intangibles that you’re looking for,” McVay said, “and then he’s got the make-up athletically, so there’s a lot of things you like and the more you can do the more of a weapon we can utilize you as.”

The Rams’ selection of Burgess in the third round has received a ton of praise from draft experts in recent months, so now it will be up to him to go out and prove why.

With so many departures on the defense side of the ball this offseason, the Rams will be relying on more young players than ever to produce if they want to get back to the postseason in 2020.
