Rams Tight End Davis Allen Will Be Out For ‘Some Time’ Due To Quad Injury

The Los Angeles Rams have been bitten by the injury bug in training camp as guard Justin Dedich and cornerback Al’Zillion Hamilton are among the players currently unavailable for the time being.

Tight end Davis Allen is also down at the moment with a quad injury that will likely keep him sidelined for at least a few weeks, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:

Per Sean McVay, TE Davis Allen is dealing with a quad injury. Since it’s a soft tissue injury, McVay said they will give Allen “some time” before he returns to practice. McVay said they don’t want to rush Allen back.

“Davis is going to be a big part of what we do,” McVay said.

Allen is entering his fourth season with the Rams after being selected out of Clemson in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

The 25-year-old is coming off a year that saw him catch 24 passes for 208 yards and three touchdowns in 17 games (five starts). He saw an increase in snaps as the team began to use more 13 personnel.

Allen is part of a stacked Rams tight end room that includes Colby Parkinson, Tyler Higbee, Terrance Ferguson and rookie Max Klare.

With Allen sidelined, Ferguson and Klare should benefit the most by getting more reps in training camp and preseason games.

Rams being cautious with Myles Garrett due to lower body soreness

The Rams’ big offseason acquisition of Myles Garrett has not been on the practice field for the last few days of training camp as he deals with lower body soreness. The injury is not believed to be serious, and Garrett could potentially return sometime this week.

Considering Week 1 is still a month away, the Rams will be cautious with the reigning Defensive Player of the Year to ensure this doesn’t become a long-term issue.

At this stage of his career, Garrett does not need training camp or the preseason in order to be ready to go for the regular season. With that being the case, it makes sense for the Rams to be cautious and ensure Garrett is feeling 100% healthy before returning to the practice field.
